Frequently asked questions

What people ask us on the phone, written down once and for all. If your question is not here, call: it takes two minutes to settle.

Can I test drive a car before buying?

Yes. Test drives are arranged by phone: say which car interests you and when you can come, and it will be out and ready. The drive is on the road, accompanied, with enough time to ask questions. It is free and commits you to nothing. Bring your driving licence.

Do you take cars in part exchange, even broken ones?

Yes, including cars that no longer start, accident-damaged vehicles, and cars too old to sell privately. Describe the car on the Trade-in page — registration or make, model, year, mileage — and the garage calls you back within one working day with an offer. The amount can come off a car from the stock.

Are your prices negotiable?

The displayed prices are real selling prices, based on the condition of the car and the work done on it — not inflated in anticipation of haggling. That said, the conversation stays open, especially if you have a car to trade in. It happens on the phone or at the garage, not by email.

What warranty applies to a used car bought from a trader?

The twelve-month warranty applies to every sale by a trader to a private buyer, at no extra cost and with nothing to claim, and it is valid in France and across Europe. It covers faults that already existed at the time of sale, and the legal warranty against hidden defects applies on top. An extension of up to five years is available, agreed with the garage at the time of purchase. A vehicle sold without warranty — accident-damaged, trade only — is flagged as such from the listing onwards.

Can you export a car to Germany or Switzerland?

Yes, it is a regular part of the business: the garage is twenty minutes from Kehl. It issues the certificate of transfer and the certificate of non-pledge, hands over the crossed-out registration document, and temporary export plates are requested at the same time. Transport can be arranged if you cannot travel, with a quote given before you commit.

What paperwork do I need to buy from you?

Photo identification, proof of address less than six months old, your driving licence, and the means of payment. The garage hands you the certificate of transfer, the certificate of non-pledge, the crossed-out registration document and the invoice. A roadworthiness test less than six months old is supplied with every running vehicle sold to a private buyer.

Buying from a trader or from a private seller — what is the difference?

Three concrete differences. The twelve-month legal guarantee of conformity only exists with a trader. The paperwork is drawn up by the seller, not by you. And the car was overhauled before going on sale, with the work written out on its page. In exchange, the price includes that preparation and that guarantee.

Do you offer finance or payment in instalments?

Partly, and up to €2,000. The garage accepts payment in three or four instalments with Alma, settled on the spot by bank card. Above that amount, payment is in full, by bank transfer preferably. The garage offers neither credit nor lease purchase: if you need financing, your bank or a credit provider handles it and you then buy outright — the garage will give you a written quote for your application.

Where are you, and when can I come?

The garage is at 3 rue du Talus, 67400 Illkirch-Graffenstaden, in the northern industrial estate — ten minutes from central Strasbourg, twenty from Kehl. You park outside the workshop. The current opening hours are on the “Garage” page. A call before you set off saves a wasted trip: Alex is often under a car.

Do you sell spare parts?

Yes, new and used, for most European makes. The stock shown online is real: what is listed is on the shelf. Parts are paid for on the site and collected at the garage. If the part you need is not listed, call — the garage strips cars continuously and often has it without having put it online.

How are your cars prepared?

Every vehicle goes through the workshop before going on sale: mechanical check, replacement of whatever needs replacing, roadworthiness test, full clean. What was done is written on the vehicle page, item by item — oil change, timing belt, brakes, tyres. What is still outstanding is written there too, when something is.

Do you deliver cars to my address?

Not within France: the car is collected at the garage, so that you can see it, drive it and sign the papers together. For an export purchase, however, the garage arranges delivery with a transporter — the quote is given to you before you commit. Spare parts are also collected at the garage.

Your question is not here?

It is probably about one particular car. Call the garage: Alex knows every vehicle in stock, he worked on it.
